MILAN - Challenging cases and trouble-shooting procedures in hypospadias were presented in a supplemental symposium in the last day of the 23rd European Association of Urology (EAU) Annual Congress held in Milan, Italy. Dr. Emilio Merlini stressed a specialist surgeon’s ‘dedicated interest’ in hypospadias surgery as occupying a vital role in the success of a difficult procedure.

Robotics will dominate but new surgical manipulators are on the rise

MILAN - In a state-of-the-art lecture on ‘Surgical manipulators: an alternative to the robot?’ presented at the last day of the 23rd EAU Annual Congress in Milan, Italy, Dr. Ingolf Tuerk said there is an array of new surgical manipulators that are less costly than surgical robots but the latter will still dominate since it affords a shorter learning curve and provides a precision still unmatched by conventional laparoscopic devices.

| MILAN - The souvenir session organized by the EAU Scientific Congress Office ended this year's annual meeting. For the first time in EAU history, more than 13,000 attendants were registered. Urologists also appreciated the social programme beginning with the opening on Wednesday and ending with the EAU evening in the East End Studios. Also the nurses were satisfied with their EAUN meeting attracting 273 nurses from many European countries.
